my Malaysian friend helped me to register for a Tourism Malaysia event last night where they served a buffet dinner at the Pan Pacific hotel. i am a free-loader :P
it was a dialogue session between the minister of Tourism and Malaysian students in Perth.
we sat beside the pavlova table.
buffet table.
my neighbour's plate of food was very aesthetically pleasing.
there was nasi goreng, cold prawns, barramundi, fried chicken, beef rendang.
the dessert was soft-serve ice cream. available toppings were chocolate sauce, nuts, choc drops, hokey pokey honeycomb... it was deliciously sinful.
the ministers on stage taking questions. i think they talked about terrorism, safety, the haze and rising awareness of tourism areas (i didn't understand when they spoke in Malay)
my friend said they displayed a high level of tai-chi in the way they deflected the student's questions.
informal photo-taking sessions with the minister.
then we saw them decked out in full Australian outback gear - wide-brimmed hat, boots, backpack, Australia shopping bag, toy kangaroos, mini Australian flags - as they checked out of the hotel.
