some pictures from Leonora

just realised i have some pics on my phone from last weekend's volunteer trip to Leonora.

we took this plane to Mount Keith - it took about 2 hours to get there.
the scenery (criss-cross of fields, strange (salt?) lakes) from the plane was cool.
a map of Mount Keith mining village.
we saw mice and wild bunnies hopping around on the compound.
the mining villages are mainly made up of many shipping container blocks, each divided into three "hotel" rooms.
activities you can do at the mining complex of Mount Keith.
first dinner - Friday was fish and chip night. buffet style is awesome :)
i piled my plate with food. it was okay.
grilled and fried fish, mac and cheese, fries, broccoli, pork stew, stuffed pepper, brussel sprout, carrots.
just barely managed to finish it. at least 1 travel mate was impressed.
after dinner was dessert! oh my... i couldn't resist the ice-cream.
the chocolate and caramel one was very delicious.
was so stuffed that i was still full the next morning. but i still managed to eat breakfast. heh.
a poster showing "venomous snakes of extreme medical significance".
this was taken at the kangaroo refuge, which is actually the home of a nice old couple out in the desert, with large fenced areas for kangaroos and any other animals out at the back of the compound.
this is the accommodation for our last night at Leonora, similar to the one for the first night.
en suite toilet and shower, with a tv and mini-fridge.
