some stuff from work today.

1.
there was one guy in a classroom by himself, playing music on his laptop.
i asked if that music was by Disclosure, he replied that it was from the Great Gatsby movie. and then he offered that he could pass it to me. so i met him later with my usb drive, and we chatted for half an hour.
he was a Singaporean, studying Chemical Engineering. apparently there isn't that much of a demand for them anymore. and starting pay for them in Perth was $5000, compared to $3500 in Singapore.
and he worked as a zookeeper for the tigers and what not in Singapore Zoo.
in Perth, he's working with brain damaged ex-convicts (brain damaged in the sense that they know they can work all the ordinary daily tasks, and they have the physical capability to, but they just can't do it that easily and it frustrates them).

2.
asked the photography technician if i could borrow a tripod for my camera even though i'm not taking any photography units. he said i could.
and he said a full frame Canon camera body was $1600. the lens was $800. a high end model would be about $4000. wow.

3.
caught my photography lecturer from last semester as she was going to her class.
it was nice that she remembered me. i wanted to ask how her father was, but didn't.
she said she wanted to see the photos i will take for my project, and that i can drop her an email if i need to talk about it.

4.
saw the tutor we had for last semester's dissertation writing class.
he was teaching art theory. i said i wanted to stay and listen but he said i better get on with my dissertation.

5.
colleague coming in for the evening shift was quite hyper. he was going for the Beach Bash party at uni tonight and showed off a hilariously hideous Hawaiian print shirt. he also immediately introduced himself to a female colleague who had pink hair. she said she was at the Toga party at uni last time and he was like, why didn't i see you there, with your pink hair. she was like, haha yeah and drunk people were calling me Katy Perry. he took a liking to that and said, "bye Katy Perry" three times when she left.

6.
randomly met my classmate from the 3D design class last semester in a library room. she's from China and was surprised that i don't have a boyfriend at my ripe old age. i say that because another guy from China was also concerned that i didn't have a partner at this age. she said it's probably because i don't go out much and am quite quiet.
yeah i guess so.
but that reminded of the guy i met yesterday. i met him a few times before in the flat below. so i saw him in a classroom alone and he started talking about wanting a wife and having a big bed and asking if i want to be his girlfriend/wife. wtf. i think he was joking. but he did kiss my hand. argh.

7.
a tall slim blond person dressed as a chic rock chick came to ask me where the nearest female toilet was. but her voice was quite male. but she was pretty. i told her and she thanked me. i was happy to help.
it was quite funny because i too had trouble finding toilets in that warren of a building. in that badly designed building, certain rooms, such as classrooms and toilets, could only be accessed by certain isolated staircases.
and i had also directed someone to that same toilet earlier in the morning.

8.
i saw a girl rocking a cool look and was reminded of what my uncle commented before on fashion - confidence.
but her look was so well coordinated as well! teal lacy hair ribbon, translucent purple glasses, white tank top, shiny silver back pack, fuzzy (mohair?) teal knee length skirt, purplish platform sandals.
it was eye candy to behold.
and i also saw the girl in the pineapple-print mini-shorts with white pom-pom trimmings (see above) and white chunky sandals again today.
