Stockholm - day 8 - Bergius Botanic Garden

on this day we visited a wonderful national park near Universitetet station, the Bergius Botanic Garden (Bergianska Tradgarden).

the park is at the edge of a huge lake/sea, where the calm waters were clean and clear.
people were canoeing and swimming...

to get there from the train/subway station, we walked following signs and ended up in front of a gigantic field which used to be marshland.
this botanic garden is managed by a university so they do research there, but otherwise it's an awesome place for anyone who loves nature.

some locals were having their wonderful walks.

this is one of the greenhouses, Victoria House - it's a very pretty antique glass dome.
inside was extremely warm and humid, which is a good for the giant water lily, Victoria.
the lily pads are almost 2 m in diameter! but it was not flowering yet.

we spent quite some time in the outdoor gardens near the conservatory.
there were so many flowers we had never seen before! so pretty!
the fruit plant area was the most interesting though. the fragrance of the raspberry shrubs was very intense~ i love it when the plants give out such wonderful perfume.

that's the main building, Edvard Anderson Conservatory,  which is amazing.
it was spacious and cool and houses plants from all over world, separated into their various regions.

like this pink and purple one.

 and this upside-down orchid.

the lovely view from the upper deck!
again i can't seem to take level photos.

this is the orangery on the other side of the conservatory, Gamla Orangeiet, now operating as a cute restaurant/cafe.
we had a picnic in the garden area facing the building instead, which had poppies and roses and lavender.

this relaxed and peaceful atmosphere is unbeatable!
