Copenhagen - day 2 - Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

what is this, you ask?
well, this is an art collection by Carlsberg. yes, that "beer" Carlsberg.

this museum is a prominent landmark in the city, thanks to its striking and huge building.
and it was beautiful and chock full of wonderful things!
we seriously did not expect it to be such an awesome art museum.

from the entrance, you go down to the basement to get tickets or the Copenhagen Card scanned, then chuck your stuff into the free lockers, visit the toilet and emerge upstairs with your ticket to enter...

the light-filled indoor garden under the glass dome!
check out the intriguing center piece of a mother with a lot of babies.

it's so spacious!

then it was off to see the sculptures at either side of the indoor garden.

there were so many Greco-Roman and classic European sculptures!

oh my! he's going to cut her head off! that's nasty!

then into the bowels of the building for Sumerian and more Greco-Roman treasures!

wire horses! how ingenious!

there was also a small Ancient Egyptian collection!

and a bunch of heads!

i loved this place! what a gem!
