oh yeah, i forgot to mention that during the hot pot session on 30 jul, i received a call at about 7pm - it was the Curtin career center calling to conduct a phone interview for a very short term job i applied for (basically me verbally telling her what i already wrote in my application with regard to my customer service and audio-visual equipment experience).
anyway, she gave me the job after i said i can be available for at least 2.5 days a week.
so on 31 july, i had a productive day.
first, went to the post office to apply for a national police certificate. it cost $63.50!
then, i tracked down the unit coordinator to sign my enrollment form. even though my actual course coordinator offloaded this duty to her (quite irresponsible of him), thankfully she signed it. i passed the form to the office, so that i could register for the classes, and thus my enrollment was complete.
after that, i went to the cafe to do a trial shift. i got to know about this job from a friend's friend W. they didn't need any staff, until W's visa expired. what a twist!
this cafe is small and also sells sandwiches, salads and soups for the quiet office crowd.
my trial shift was for about 3 hours and it was alright. a lot better than the fish shop, for sure.
and i got a latte for the labour - it was gooood.
i really want to work at this cafe, but it really depends on what shifts i get from the uni job.
then i wandered through the city, bought some second-hand slacks and blouses for the uni job (because the dress code is office attire), and also came across this cafe called Greenhouse.
it looked so cool - it's at the entrance of a fancy office/retail building on 100 St. George Terrace and the exterior is a mesh loaded with potted plants.
