19 Jan 2013 - Japan day 2 - Shimokitazawa, Ebisu

that day, i was to meet my Japanese friend at Odakyu Shimokitazawa station at noon. being early, i took stroll.

there was Colonel Sanders...

Matsuko Deluxe...
i regret not trying this new Pon de Ring!

check out the funky colors - mint and sulfur yellow.

i went back to the station and finally met up with my 2 lovely friends.

we walked around the south side of the station and chanced upon this shop selling nostalgic Japanese sweets and snacks.
this shop has autographs from famous TV personalities like AKB48 decorating the walls.

M took us to an oshare cafe.
walking through a quiet residential area, we reached Mois Cafe.

it looked like an ordinary house, except for the 3 small signboards discreetly placed near the stone wall of the entrance. an old house almost entirely constructed out of wood, we went upstairs and sat in the sofa near the window, thoroughly impressed with the loveliness of the place.

S said even the waitress looked like she came out of a picture book - it was all very charming and quaint. we ordered healthy lunches - bean rice, green curry, avocado smoked salmon salad.

the north side of the station.

a shop selling handmade postcards, jewellery, and other cute things from various artists.
i bought a necklace because i thought i had to buy something to remember this place by.

and there was a label sticker shop for awesome graphics - i bought some as well.

 nice drapery/cushion shop.
we went into a cafe opposite the drapery shop - it was a one-man business selling curry rice as well.

but, OMG the parfait was fantastic! i fell in love with the rich tartness of the cheesecake filling and smooth fragrant ice-cream ~~~~ the best parfait i ever had!

M bought cute earrings, and we left Shimokitazawa for Ebisu.

we had mizu-taki nabe, top-shell salad, and drinks with more friends we haven't met in a long time.

after dinner, Y wanted to a second round, so we randomly chose a posh looking bar.

as 3 of us were Singaporean and all of us spoke English, H was saying he would always speak in English at such establishments to appear more sophisticated. Singlish (kenna, buang) was main topic of discussion - it was either very funny or we were slightly drunk.

in the end, R helped me to finish my drink - i certainly won't be ordering any tequila based again - and we bid each other goodbye.
